Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) in ua-parser-js
Published 6 May 2021 · Updated 8 Nov 2023
Affected package
ua-parser-jsnpm
- Affected
- >=0.7.14 <0.7.24
- Fixed in
- 0.7.24
Update to the fixed version for your release line, for example:
npm install ua-parser-js@0.7.24Details
ua-parser-js >= 0.7.14, fixed in 0.7.24, uses a regular expression which is vulnerable to denial of service. If an attacker sends a malicious User-Agent header, ua-parser-js will get stuck processing it for an extended period of time.
Is GHSA-78cj-fxph-m83p in any of your client repos?
Checking one package by hand is fine. Checking it across forty client projects is not. NPMscan reads the lockfiles in every GitHub repo you pick, finds each project with an affected ua-parser-js, and gives you the command that fixes it.
