Elliptic's EDDSA missing signature length check
Published 2 Aug 2024 · Updated 4 Nov 2025
Affected package
ellipticnpm
- Affected
- >=4.0.0 <6.5.7
- Fixed in
- 6.5.7
Update to the fixed version for your release line, for example:
npm install elliptic@6.5.7Details
In the Elliptic package 6.5.6 for Node.js, EDDSA signature malleability occurs because there is a missing signature length check, and thus zero-valued bytes can be removed or appended.
Is GHSA-f7q4-pwc6-w24p in any of your client repos?
Checking one package by hand is fine. Checking it across forty client projects is not. NPMscan reads the lockfiles in every GitHub repo you pick, finds each project with an affected elliptic, and gives you the command that fixes it.
