HighGHSA-jjv7-qpx3-h62qCVE-2014-7191
Denial-of-Service Memory Exhaustion in qs
Published 24 Oct 2017 · Updated 8 Nov 2023
Affected package
qsnpm
- Affected
- <1.0.0
- Fixed in
- 1.0.0
Update to the fixed version for your release line, for example:
npm install qs@1.0.0Details
Versions prior to 1.0 of qs are affected by a denial of service condition. This condition is triggered by parsing a crafted string that deserializes into very large sparse arrays, resulting in the process running out of memory and eventually crashing.
Recommendation
Update to version 1.0.0 or later.
Is GHSA-jjv7-qpx3-h62q in any of your client repos?
Checking one package by hand is fine. Checking it across forty client projects is not. NPMscan reads the lockfiles in every GitHub repo you pick, finds each project with an affected qs, and gives you the command that fixes it.
