CriticalGHSA-pr44-4jfr-286mCVE-2016-10074
Swift Mailer mail transport Command Injection
Published 17 May 2022 · Updated 14 Apr 2025
Affected package
swiftmailer/swiftmailerComposer
- Affected
- <5.4.5
- Fixed in
- 5.4.5
Update to the fixed version for your release line, for example:
composer require swiftmailer/swiftmailer:^5.4.5Details
The mail transport (aka Swift_Transport_MailTransport) in Swift Mailer before 5.4.5 might allow remote attackers to pass extra parameters to the mail command and consequently execute arbitrary code via a \" (backslash double quote) in a crafted e-mail address in the (1) From, (2) ReturnPath, or (3) Sender header.
Is GHSA-pr44-4jfr-286m in any of your client repos?
Checking one package by hand is fine. Checking it across forty client projects is not. NPMscan reads the lockfiles in every GitHub repo you pick, finds each project with an affected swiftmailer/swiftmailer, and gives you the command that fixes it.
