CriticalGHSA-h7wf-jg4f-x2wcCVE-2014-3945
TYPO3 vulnerable to authentication bypass via leveraging knowledge of password hash
Published 17 May 2022 · Updated 14 Apr 2025
Affected package
typo3/cmsComposer
- Affected
- <6.2.0
- Fixed in
- 6.2.0
Update to the fixed version for your release line, for example:
composer require typo3/cms:^6.2.0Details
The Authentication component in TYPO3 before 6.2, when salting for password hashing is disabled, does not require knowledge of the cleartext password if the password hash is known, which allows remote attackers to bypass authentication and gain access to the backend by leveraging knowledge of a password hash.
Is GHSA-h7wf-jg4f-x2wc in any of your client repos?
Checking one package by hand is fine. Checking it across forty client projects is not. NPMscan reads the lockfiles in every GitHub repo you pick, finds each project with an affected typo3/cms, and gives you the command that fixes it.
